After nearly 14 hours, it only took one hand of heads-up play to determine this year’s WCOOP Main Event champion. J.C. "area23JC" TRAN, who held an almost 3-1 chip lead, put second place finisher “hannibalfex” all-in holding top pair with his K/9 off suit. Hannibalfex eventually called with third pair and an ace kicker. The river brought no help, giving J.C. Tran the championship. First place, according to the prize structure in the tournament lobby, was suppose to pay $1.15 million. It looks like the two players made a deal at the end, but the amounts are suspect. According to the lobby chat listed below, J.C. takes home $670,000 and “hannibalfex” gets $400,000. Even though the prize structure listed $1,157,737.50 for first and $632,520.00 going to the second place finisher. Now I’m no math major but it seems to me that they didn’t make the best deal. Although I’m guessing the commentators just got a little confused with the payouts. I’m sure the official numbers will be listed tomorrow by Poker Stars.
